Chief financial officer Juan Uribe resigned after Wednesday night’s council meeting, according to city manager Terence Reidy.
Reidy said Uribe handed him his letter of resignation at that time, with an effective date of August 16. City treasurer Christine Paulin will serve as acting CFO until a replacement is found, Reidy said.
Uribe “didn’t elaborate on the reasons for leaving,” Reidy said. “He gave a [resignation] letter that thanked the city for the opportunity to work here.”
A resident of Elizabeth, Uribe held the CFO post in Asbury Park for about nine months, Reidy said. Previously, Uribe had been the assistant CFO in Elizabeth, he said.
Reidy said that the city will now work closely with the state Department of Community Affairs (DCA) in finding a replacement and handling the transition.
“I was in touch with DCA immediately,” said Reidy of Uribe’s departure. “They will work closely with us in terms of recommendations during the next 60-90 days, which I anticipate will be the time it will take to fill the position.”
Uribe’s salary was $95,000 annually, Reidy said.
