Asbury Fresh team plans year-round public market
4,000 sq ft space will feature a dozen vendors, event space and brewery
Come springtime, Asbury Fresh organizers will open a year-round market in Asbury Park.
The Asbury Fresh Public Market will be housed in a 4,000 square foot converted warehouse behind storefronts on Second Avenue off Main Street. Plans are to fill the space with about a dozen year-round food and craft vendors along with an event space and a brewery, according to a news release from Asbury Fresh co-founder Bret Morgan.
The group’s vision “is to bring the feeling and flavors of places such as Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia and Chelsea Market in New York City to Asbury Park,” the release stated.
Main access to the market will be the cargo bay next to Asbury Roastery [shown above, where the grey truck is in the driveway].
Morgan, co-founder Michelle Zarella and their team are now in the search of artisan food and craft entrepreneurs to join them as permanent residents of the market, inviting them to take a walk through the space to see it in greater detail.
The Asbury Fresh Public Market is on a trajectory for a late spring opening.
Asbury Fresh, downtown Asbury Park’s local artisan market, will also return to Kennedy Park for its third installment this June.
