Demolition of Fast Lane building begins
Asbury Lanes will use cleared space for outdoor expansion
Demolition began today on the building which once housed the Fast Lane nightclub on Fourth Avenue.
The structure is adjacent to Asbury Lanes, the bowling alley and music venue that dates to the early 1960s. Once the land from the Fast Lane structure is cleared, Asbury Lanes plans to expand onto the space to have outdoor facilities, including picnic tables and horseshoe pits, Asbury Lanes owner Pat Fasano previously told the Sun.
Fasano and partner Vincent Giffort own Asbury Lanes, which they will operate through the summer of 2015, after which waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial will take over the property. Fasano and Gifford have an agreement to trade the Asbury Lanes property for two other parcels on Second Avenue.
IStar owns the former Fast Lane building and is handling the demolition. IStar will lease the property to Asbury Lanes through Labor Day 2015, Fasano told the Sun.
