To celebrate their reopening, Paranormal Books & Curiosities and The Paranormal Museum will welcome celebrity Ghost Hunters Adam Berry & Amy Bruni during the Third Annual Krampus Asbury Park.
“Adam & Amy are the perfect ‘Krampus Marshals” for this year,” owner Kathy Kelly [at right] said in a written statement. “They are fun loving and creative people who also have a fantastic new show on TLC called Kindred Spirits, which is exactly how Paranormal feels about them.”
Kelly said the duo will be on hand at the Friday night Krampus Film Festival at The ShowRoom Cinema, will judge Saturday’s KrampusLauf contest, and are the featured guests at the 7 p.m. After Party.
“I wanted to give something back to the people who have stuck by me for 10 years and especially this last year,” she said. “I thought inviting a few paranormal favorites was a perfect way to say thanks and welcome to the new Paranormal.”
The devilish Krampus, St. Nick’s counterpart from German and Austrian 15th century folklore, is a horned figure who punishes misbehaved children. And like St. Nick, he has his own day of recognition – Krampusnacht, celebrated on Dec 5.
“Believe it or not, there are Christmas monsters in folklore all over the world,” said Kelly, who traveled to Austria in September to meet with a Krampus Mask Maker and learn about the history and the art of Krampus. “One of my proudest moments was when she told me she had heard of Krampus Asbury Park through people ordering masks for this year. I love that our little Lauf has reached the mountains of Austria.”
Kelly shared the skills she learned with a group of will participants during Wednesday night’s Krampus Mask Making Group.
The Krampus lineup includes the return of the popular Monsters of Yule, a free 45-minute storytelling tour that shares history and other darker holiday myths.
“Last year we had 100 show up for the tour when we were expecting 40,” Kelly said.
Also returning is the reading of the Naughty List, names can be added here.
