One injured in Neptune shooting

Unidentified male victim taken to nearby hospital

A 19-year-old Asbury resident was shot near the intersection of Myrtle and West Lake avenues Monday, said Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim was taken to nearby hospital after is in currently in surgery, he said.

Further information about the extend of the teen’s injuries has not been released as of 11:20 p.m. Monday, Webster said.

Officers from the prosecutor’s office and Neptune police are conducting a joint investigation.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call  the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-800-533-7443.

Alternatively, those who wish to remain anonymous can submit tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-671-4400. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers by texting “MONMOUTH” plus the tip to 274637 [CRIMES].

It is the second shooting to take place along the south west Asbury Park and Neptune border within a week.
