A Beachwood woman was arrested on prostitution charges Tuesday after police witnessed her walking away from what they deemed a suspicious vehicle, Ocean Township Police Department announced in a news release.
Aryn Montague, 27, was charged with prostitution and possession of a hypodermic syringe and a crack pipe, and for tampering with evidence. The vehicle’s driver Sean Forney, 33, of Beachwood was arrested after police found him to be in possession of pepper spray.
According to officials, Montague was detained near 9:59 p.m. after detectives spotted her walking away from a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sunset Avenue. Further investigation revealed Montague was engaging in prostitution and was found to be in possession of the drug paraphernalia.
Montague was remanded to Monmouth County Jail pending an initial court appearance. Forney was released on a summons pending his initial court appearance.
Dt. Sgt. Patrick Martin, Detectives Michael Legg, Jesse Orbach, and Greg Martone investigated.
Later that evening, a motor vehicle stop led to the arrest of a wanted man in possession of crack cocaine, according to a second Ocean Township Police Department news release.
Eric Martinez, 33, of Long Branch was charged with possession of crack cocaine and on outstanding warrants from Manasquan and Long Branch, officials said.
A motor vehicle stop near 11:42 p.m. along Route 35 revealed that Martinez, a passenger in the car, failed to wear his seat belt. Further investigation revealed he provided a false name and date of birth in an effort to avoid apprehension on the outstanding warrants, and it was during his arrest that he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, officials said.
Martinez was remanded to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency [ICE].
Patrolmen Kevin Donohoe and Mark Powoski investigated.
