Red Bank man, two juveniles rob Asbury teen at knifepoint
Police located all three subjects in the 1100 block of Asbury Avenue
A 17-year-old Asbury Park resident was allegedly robbed at knifepoint early Thursday morning by an 18-year old Red Bank man and two juveniles while he was walking home from the train station.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. the teen was confronted by three males who demanded anything of value, Asbury Park Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno said.
When the victim refused, one of the subjects, later identified as 18-year-old Bairon Escobar, Red Bank, presented a knife and again demanded money and valuables while two other juvenile subjects assisted with the robbery, he said.
Police located the three subjects in the 1100 block of Asbury Avenue, where they were positively identified and still had proceeds from the theft in their possession, Salerno said.
Escobar was found in possession of a six inch switch blade knife, according to police records.
All three subjects were charged with first degree armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon. The two juveniles were sent to the Youth Detention Center in Middlesex.
Escobar was taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of $100,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent.
