2014 Asbury Park Waterfront beach packages now on sale
Rates slashed from previous year
Waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial is again offering amenities to encourage Asbury Park beachgoers to turn their day at the beach into a night on the town.
Seasonal rates for iStar’s 2014 beach packages were announced this week via an email sent from Asbury Park Waterfront, the company’s marketing initiative, and they have been reduced considerably in relation to prices for the 2013 summer season.
Seasonal membership is priced at $199 for primary account holders,$50 for spouses, partners and children ages 13-17, and $25 for children ages 12 and under. All parties listed on the account must reside in the same home. Daily memberships are $5 for weekdays and $10 for weekends. Neither membership includes beach access, which must be purchased through the city.
The previous year’s going rates for seasonal membership were $550 for primary memberships, $150 for spouses or partners and $75 for children between the ages of 13-18 cost $75. Daily rates were $20 each.
“For the 2014 season Asbury Park Waterfront has adjusted its season and day passes offering based on feedback it received from last year’s program and how the space was actually utilized,” iStar spokesman Roger Ardan said in an email to the Sun.
Both packages include access to, air-conditioned bathrooms, private showers and changing stations, and a shaded hammock garden near the southern waterfront area [shown above].
The seasonal memberships are limited in number and include access to one of 95 season lockers available for rental beginning in May and ending in September. The lockers are located in the Carousel lot at the intersection of Asbury and Cookman avenues, and in the Stone Pony parking lot on Ocean Avenue between Second and Third avenues.
“Our goal is to continue to encourage people to spend a full day at Asbury Park by offering areas to clean up and change after a day at the beach to enjoy local establishments before heading home,” Ardan said.
