82ND ANNUAL EASTER PAGEANT PARADE SET FOR APRIL 16
Bragging rights, trophies, & gift certificates given to best in promenade Asbury Park event
The 82nd Annual Easter Pageant Parade returns 1 to 3 p.m. April 16 in front of the historic Paramount Theatre at Convention Hall on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
The annual event is a popular best of contest with prizes given for everything from most creative bonnets to best dressed men, women, boys, girls, and families.
This year’s judges include Council-members Jesse Kendle, Yvonne Clayton, and Eileen Chapman, as well as former Mayor Edward Johnson and retired Asbury Park Board of Education employee Jessie Ricks, according to a written news statement.
“This event is a beloved part of Asbury Park’s history, and one of our longest-running events,” City Councilperson Jesse Kendle said. “The bright dresses and beautiful bonnets are how you know winter is over, and it’s springtime in the City.”
The Easter Bunny responsibilities will be courtesy of Interfaith Neighbors’ Heather Schultz.
The event begins with the 1 p.m. pageant procession, with a wide range of gift certificates and trophies at stake, organizers said.
“It’s an important community event, and not just for Asbury residents,” pageant Co-Director Cassandra Dickerson has said. “We attract people from as far as Red Bank, Long Branch, Tinton Falls, Freehold, Neptune and Point Pleasant – it’s a family-friendly event, and that’s why people from all over attend.”
