Asbury man’s charges elevated to aggravated sexual assault, alleged victim is 11
Charges stem from multiple incidents
An Asbury Park man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl on Saturday is receiving two more charges stemming from multiple incidents, Asbury Park Police Detective Captain Anthony Salerno said.
Francisco Hernandez, 30, was first charged with simple assault and sexual assault after the Asbury Park Police Department received a call from DYFS at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, Salerno said.
Following an investigation, the Asbury Park Police Department yesterday charged Hernandez with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Salerno said.
These charges stem from multiple incidents, Salerno said.
The simple assault charge he received on Saturday stems from accusations that Hernandez hit the victim’s mother, Salerno said. Hernandez is known to the victim’s family, he added.
Hernandez is subject to an ICE [Immigrant Customs Enforcement] Detainer due to his illegal alien status, Salerno said.
Hernandez is being held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution with bail marked at $300,000 with no 10-percent option, Salerno said.
