The victim of a shooting was found on a porch in Asbury Park early Sunday morning, according to Charles Webster, the communications officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

An Asbury Park police officer was patrolling the area of the 1500 block of Sewall Avenue, between Prospect and Ridge avenues, when he heard shots fired, Webster said. The officer investigated the area and eventually discovered the victim, Donte Kelly, 21, of Asbury Park, on the porch of 1529 Sewall Ave.

The victim was pronounced dead around 3 a.m. by a doctor from Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Webster said. Webster was unsure if the victim was dead at the time that the officer discovered him.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective John Leidfried of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-800-533-7443, or Detective April Bird of the Asbury Park Police Department at 732-774-1300.
