Forward Asbury Park files late campaign finance report
AP Out Front says its late filings will be made today
The incumbent-led Forward Asbury Park slate in the city council race has filed its pre-election campaign finance report. The late filing was made on April 25 with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission [ELEC].
The report was due on April 15, and covers campaign contributions and expenditures through April 12. Filed reports for all candidates can be found on the ELEC website.
Two other slates in the race — One Asbury and the A-Team — already filed their reports. A fourth ticket, AP Out Front, has yet to file any of their required reports, but the campaign plans to make those filings today, according to AP Out Front campaign manager Stephania Warren.
The incumbents on the Forward Asbury slate are John Loffredo, Kevin Sanders and Susan Henderson. Also on the ticket are Board of Education member Gregory Hopson and Will Potter.
Forward Asbury Park reported contributions of $7628.49. A total of $3440 were from contributions of $300 or more, which must be individually reported.
Contributors donating $300 or more were as follows: Joe Grillo for Asbury Park campaign account, $300 [Grillo had been a candidate with Forward Asbury, but dropped out]; candidate Susan Henderson, $300; William Mahr, Buffalo, N.Y., $500; Seaview Properties, West Long Branch, $1,000; Jessica DeKonick, Montclair, $400; Sigman Real Estate Partners, Asbury Park, $300; Sparkle and Shine, Manalapan, $300; Anthony Loffredo, Emerson, $300, Angelo Chinnici, Asbury Park, $500; Joseph Loffredo, Toms River, $300.
The campaign spent a total of $3977.61, the report says. The campaign paid $1,000 for political consulting to Synptium Consulting. No address was listed for the firm on the report. The campaign also spent $1359.11 with victorystore.com for lawn signs.
At the end of the reporting period, the campaign account for Forward Asbury contained $3650.88.
Forward Asbury Park did not list an expenditure or in-kind contribution for the rent for its campaign headquarters on Bangs Avenue. That will be added to the May 2 report as an in-kind contribution from the building’s owner, according to campaign treasurer Jocelyn Toledo. The building is owned by Asbury Park developer Patrick Fasano.
The A-Team slate also had an omission on their pre-election report. There was no record of an expenditure, in-kind contribution or outstanding obligation for a campaign kick-off event held at Johnny Mac House of Spirit on February 23. According to the A-Team facebook page, 300 people attended the event which featured free beer, wine and food.
The cost of Johnny Mac event will be listed as an outstanding obligation on the A-Team’s next campaign finance report due on May 2, according to campaign manager John Napolitani. The A-Team candidates are former Councilman James Keady, former board of education member Remond Palmer, Duanne Small, Nora Hyland and Daniel Harris.
