Closed since Hurricane Sandy, Langosta Lounge on the Asbury boardwalk will reopen to the public for dinner service on Monday, May 13 at 5 p.m., according to a news release from Langosta owner Marilyn Schlossbach [above]. Lunch will be added a week later on May 20, the release stated.

Also scheduled is a reopening party and benefit on Friday, May 10 in support of the non-profit organization Waves for Water. That event will feature an art auction, musical performances, an assortment of tapas selection by Lusty Lobster and Mr. Green Tea Ice Cream, along with beer and cocktails compliments of Kane Brewing Company, Carton Brewing Company and others. The event is $50 at the door with all proceeds going to Waves for Water.

Tickets for the May 10 benefit reopening event can also be purchased at the Dauphin Grille in the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, which is operated by Schossbach. Those with any questions about the event call call 732-774-FISH.

A grassroots campaign of financial support by Schlossbach’s friends and customers helped her reopen. Contributions were made on the GoFundMe website, and the donations were used to purchase chairs, a new fish tank, reclaimed wood from a storm damaged house in Brielle and a lobster-inspired piece made from Hurricane Sandy storm debris, according to the news release. All were used in the renovation of Langosta Lounge and “will keep in the tradition of the eclectic, vacation-inspried decor for which the oceanfront bar and restaurant is known,” the release stated.

With the reopening of Langosta Lounge, all the restaurants and liquor establishments on the Asbury boardwalk that were closed by hurricane damage will now be reopened. The boardwalk itself is now fully accessible to the public.
