Rates set for ‘Summer Experience’ beach packages
Daily visitors provided amenities to stick around into the evening hours
Waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial has established rates for its new “Summer Experience” beach packages.
The packages, which are being sold at both seasonal and daily rates, include access to a beachfront station that will house lockers, air-conditioned bathrooms, private showers and changing stations in the southern waterfront area. Shaded hammock gardens will also be made available to season pass holders near the same area, according to a news release from iStar.
The seasonal rate for a primary single membership is $550, according to iStar’s waterfront website. Once a primary membership is purchased, a spouse or partner can be added for an additional $150. Season passes for children between the ages of 13-18 cost $75. Passes for children under twelve are free.
Single day passes cost $20 but do not include all the amenities of a seasonal pass, including but not limited to daily private lockers, a T-shirt, and a beach umbrella, according to the website.
“We know that once people experience the waterfront and get a full taste of the city’s ambiance, they’ll want to call Asbury Park home,” said Jan Cooper, vice president of strategic marketing and planning for iStar.
“We don’t want people to feel they have to leave after only spending a day on the beach,” she said.
There are also tentative plans to transform the Vive sales center between Cookman and Asbury avenues into a relaxation center where visitors can purchase experience packages, view site plans for redevelopment of the waterfront area and share their ideas at input stations.
“We want to keep the momentum going in Asbury Park and provide the opportunity for visitors to experience firsthand what it’s like to be a resident of this great City,” said Cooper.
iStar has other plans for additional street, landscaping and curbside improvements, according to their news release. The on-going improvement project will also include a new landscaped plaza at the southern end of the boardwalk and new green space improvements on the 1st and 4th avenue pavilions.
iStar pitched the initial plan to the city late last month for the “Summer Experience” package. iStar is the majority owner of Asbury Partners, which is the master redeveloper for the whole Asbury Park waterfront.
