Bartlett takes over as the Sun’s new editor
Asbury Park resident has breaking news background in radio
The Asbury Park Sun has a new editor to oversee its mission to provide accurate, objective and fair reporting to its readers.
New editor Jill Bartlett [above] is an Asbury Park resident and a graduate of Rutgers University, where she won numerous academic prizes and scholarships.
Her breaking news experience comes through her work as a news anchor at WOBM-FM radio in Ocean County. In that position, Bartlett compiled and wrote the newscasts, interacting with various officials and sources. She also wrote breaking news posts for the station’s website, as well as delivered the news on-air.
In addition, Bartlett worked at a lifestyle magazine in Bergen County. She also taught ninth grade English in an inner city school in Hartford, Connecticut.
Bartlett takes over from Molly Mulshine, the editor of the Sun since this website launched in March of 2012. Mulshine is now a contributing writer for the tech blog Betabeat, which is produced by the New York Observer newspaper in Manhattan.
Readers are encouraged to email Bartlett at news@asburyparksun.com with any story ideas, or input on the site.
