Asbury Park’s Lakehouse Music Academy will host its first student showcase at The Wonder Bar on Saturday, June 22.
Students [pictured above] will perform songs by The White Stripes, Bruno Mars, Tom Petty, Adele, Social Distortion, The Eagles and other performers, according to a release from the academy.
“Students in the ‘Get Started’ and ‘Core’ programs will show what they’ve been learning over the last few months, and it’ll be so cool to see the students rock out and sing their hearts out,” said Juan O’Grady, Lakehouse general manager.
Located within the Lakehouse building at 619 Lake Ave., Lakehouse Music Academy opened earlier this year as a music school featuring group performance and individual lessons. The academy houses seven practice rooms and a large, multi-purpose classroom complete with a stage, according to the release.
“Enrollment has been very strong in the months since we’ve opened,” said Albie Monterrosa, the academy’s music director. “We plan to add additional class times very soon. The positive reaction we’ve received from parents – and of course, the kids – is just amazing,”
Besides the music academy, the Lakehouse building is also home to Cowerks, Bands on a Budget, two recording studios, rehearsal rooms, Russo Music Center and Cafe Mumford’s, said Jon Leidersdorff, the owner of the building, as well as Lakehouse Music Academy.
The student showcase will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Wonder Bar is located at 1213 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park.
