Police blotter: cops nab car burglar
"This is a perfect example of our officers being at the right place at the right time"
The Asbury Park Police Department arrested Eddie Martin, 44, of Neptune, after he allegedly broke the window of a car and entered it.
On Sunday, April 22, at 12:30 a.m., Officer Craig Breiner heard glass breaking in the 200 block of Second Avenue, according to a prepared release from the Asbury Park Police Department. He approached the area and saw Martin in a vehicle that had the window broken out. The defendant fled the area and was subsequently arrested by Breiner and assisting officer Greg Parisi.
The investigation showed that Martin broke the window of that car, as well as a second vehicle in the area. Items taken from the cars were found on Martin.
Martin was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in the fourth degree; resisting arrest in the fourth degree; two counts of burglary in the third degree, theft from a motor vehicle; two counts of theft of property in the fourth degree; hindering apprehension or prosecution in the fourth degree; and possession of burglar tools.
“This is a perfect example of our officers being at the right place at the right time and taking immediate action to arrest this defendant and help stop break-ins to vehicles in the city, which has become a growing concern,” Police Chief Mark Kinmon.
