On agenda: Further discussion of the Main Street traffic pattern redesign
The city council is scheduled to meet tonight in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting include:
• A discussion on the further study of the reconfiguration of the traffic pattern on Main Street.
• A request to extend concessions for stand up paddle board rentals on Deal Lake.
• The purchase of an electronic fingerprint system via state contract to maintain municipal employee work hours.
• The addition of Edward Byrne grant funds to the annual budget to be allocated to the police department.
• The renewal of a liquor license for the former Upstage Club at 700 Cookman Ave., which will remain inactive.
• Several special event application requests will be discussed, including applications for a Columbus Day Reenactment, the Asbury Underground art walk, a surf contest, and a Stop the Violence rally.
• A presentation by City Engineer Joe Cunha on awarding a contract for authorization to bid for solid waste hauling services, and the submission of an application to the 2014 New Jersey Department of Transportation trust fund.
In executive session, the council will discuss two personnel issues, the city manager position and the chief municipal finance officer position. They will also discuss contract negotiations for subsequent Waterfront Redeveloper’s Agreements.
