An Asbury Park man whose face was allegedly concealed by a bandana was arrested on gun charges after police attempted to approach him.

On Sept. 16, police officers Frank Sangi and Kamil Warraich spotted Lawrence Brown, 29, in the area of Prospect Avenue and Church Street wearing a bandana around his face while walking with his hand under his shirt, according to a statement from Det. Lt. Dave DeSane.

Brown allegedly fled when the officers attempted to approach him. While in pursuit, Brown discarded a concealed .22 caliber rifle that was buried in the leg of his pants, according to DeSane. He was eventually located in the rear yard of 549 Prospect Ave. and arrested after a brief struggle with the officers, DeSane said.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, said DeSane. He was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institute in lieu of $150,000 bail with no 10 percent option, he said.
