An Asbury Park resident was shot this morning, authorities have confirmed.

Just after midnight a 29-year-old male was shot multiple times outside of 1218 Washington Ave., said Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office.

At 12:21 a.m. police received the call stating a man had been shot, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

The victim, who is as-yet-unnamed, was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, Webster said. He remains there in critical condition.

It has not yet been determined how many times the man was shot, or the location of the man’s wounds. The prosecutor’s office had no comment on whether there were any suspects as of yet.

It is the third time a resident has been shot on Washington Avenue, Webster confirmed.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call the anonymous Monmouth County Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-671-4400, or text “Monmouth” plus the tip to 274637 [CRIMES].
