City resident charged with first-degree murder
Autopsy confirms Neptune man died of a stab wound to the chest
An Asbury Park resident has been accused of fatally stabbing a Neptune man.
At 3:59 a.m. Sunday Asbury Park Police received an emergency call alerting them an individual had been stabbed and was laying in the street, according to Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police responded and found 24-year-old Brandon M. Brown of Eleventh Ave. in Neptune laying in the road in front of 607 Church St., Webster said.
He was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:39 a.m., Webster said.
An autopsy confirmed Brown succumbed to a stab wound that punctured the left side of his chest, Webster said.
Monmouth County authorities have charged Charmaine Daniels, 36, of 607 Church St. with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, he said.
Daniels was transported to Monmouth County Jail where she is being held on $765,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
Authorities have confirmed Daniels and Brown knew each other and are trying to determine the nature of their relationship, Webster said.
