Route 35 car crash seriously injures Neptune resident
SUV reportedly made an illegal left turn onto Sunset Avenue
A 59-year old Neptune Township woman suffered facial and internal injuries when her car collided with an SUV at the intersection of Rt. 35 and Sunset Avenue, according to Ocean Township Police.
On Friday, Sept. 27, around 1:30 p.m. the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team responded to a motor vehicle crash on Rt. 35 and Sunset Avenue involving a late-model Chrysler operated by a Neptune Township woman and a Lincoln SUV driven by a 53-year-old male from Pleasant Valley New York, according to a release from the Ocean Township Police Department.
Reports indicate the woman was headed southbound on Rt. 35 when she hit the man’s SUV as it allegedly made an illegal left-hand turn and crossed the divider onto Sunset Avenue from the northbound lane of the state highway, the release said.
She was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center and is listed as being in stable but serious condition, the release said.
The New York resident was given several summonses, including careless driving and making an illegal turn, according to the release.
Members of the Ocean Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau are investigating the crash. Anyone that may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-531-1800.
