Teachers push for removal of administrator
Union voted no-confidence 64-2 against Colleen White
Just in time for the board to vote on contract renewals, the Asbury Park teachers’ union made public their 64-2 vote of no confidence against Colleen White, the school’s assistant director of assessment and testing.
White has held that position for the past two years, meaning she does not have tenure. The board was scheduled to vote on contract renewals last night and although they did not make public the names of the employees up for renewal, White is presumably on that list. “The staff has had enough,” said John Napolitani, head of the Asbury Park Education Association teachers’ union. “In [the high school teachers’] vote, they had overwhelmingly voted no confidence of this administrator … This vote should not be taken lightly.”
Napolitani said yesterday the teachers’ union hopes the board does not renew White’s contract. At Wednesday night’s meeting, he presented board of education members with a list of 14 perceived transgressions and reasons the union feels White should be removed from her position.
White did not respond to a request for comment.
