Multiple shots fired near Munroe and Ridge avenues

No injuries reported, several vehicles hit

Asbury Park Police responded to a call just after 3 a.m. Friday that reported multiple shots had been fired near the intersection of Monroe and Ridge avenues, according Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

There are no reports of injuries or suspects at this time and it is not known how many firearms were involved in the incident, he said.  Webster’s office also has not confirmed the number of shots fired.

“Several” vehicles were hit during the incident, he said.

Reports of a stray bullet from the incident hitting a home in nearby Ocean Township are also unconfirmed.

Authorities are in the midst of an investigation.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers at 1-800-671-4400. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers by texting “MONMOUTH” plus the tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
