Business Development Ctr to hold workshops at Kula Café
Series focuses on ways to make entrepreneurs more tech-world savvy
The Business Development Center [BDC] will host a series workshops aimed to get business owners better grounded in the ever-expanding world of internet technology beginning this month at the Kula Café.
The BDC is headquartered in the Springwood Center and is owned by Interfaith Neighbors. The center provides training to the area’s prospective entrepreneurs in the form of workshops, inexpensive office space and business mentors.
New business owners, people with ideas for businesses or entrepreneurs who need some tips are invited to attend the 90-minute sessions, which start Oct. 24 with “Get a Website for your Business Without the Pain.”
Kirsten Lambertsen, founder of Kuratur, will lead the workshop. It will cover the basics business websites need to gain more customers. Kuratur helps small business marketers build brand credibility online through a content platform that allows users to “curate customized automated web magazines,” according to their website.
On Nov. 21, the BDC will host a workshop on using crowdfunding as alternative fundraising strategy for a start-up business. At the workshop, attendees will learn the history of crowdfunding and get an analysis of the pros and cons of using the platform as a source of funding.
The BDC’s Jan. 23 workshop will explore ways for individuals to build their professional identity, discover professional opportunities and find new business deals and ventures via online social networks sites like LinkedIn.
All of the workshops will run from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Kula Café, located at 1201 Springwood Ave. Cost to attend is $15 per person and include a continental breakfast.
