A 29-year old city resident was shot late Sunday night.

The Asbury Park Police Department [APPD] responded to a call just before 10 p.m. notifying them an individual had been shot outside of the area near 117 Elizabeth Ave. [between Springwood Avenue and McKinley Place], according to Chris Decker, assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 29-year-old city man had been wounded. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released, he said.  Decker declined to say how many times the man had been shot or the location of his injuries. The name of the victim has not been released.

There have not been any arrests at the time as authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Asbury Park Polics Det. April Bird at 732-774-1300 or Det. Richard Chapman at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office at 800-533-7443.
