Enrollment for free head start program closing soon
Asbury Park school offers extended-day services for a minimal fee
There is only one week left to enroll preschool-aged children in a free head start program offered by a learning center located in the city.
Acelero Learning centers in Monmouth and Middlesex counties run a 12-month head start preschool program in Asbury Park, NJ at no cost to city residents, according to a news release from the school. The program serves preschool children ages 3 to 5, and their families.
The center is currently enrolling children until October 31. Kids must be residents of Asbury Park that have turned 3 by October 1. Any family that completes the application and enrolls their child will be given a $20 gift card.
Parent’s can expect their children to receive a high quality preschool education, nutritional meals, general health and mental health services, the release said.
In addition, professional extended day services are provided from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a minimal fee. Morning extended services cost $25 per week and evening services $50 per week. A $5 discount is offered for parents who sign up for both services. Staff of the center will also assist families members to fill out child care resource applications for vouchers that help to ease the cost if not fully cover them.
The mission of Acelero Learning is to bring a relentless focus on positive family and child outcomes to close the achievement gap and build a better future for children, families, and communities served by the head start program, the release said.
Over the summer the center held a grand opening celebration for their “Little Sprouts Community Garden” installed on the playground of the school. Teachers at the school use the garden to provide hands-on learning experiences throughout the year.
