Schlossbach to host ‘Sandy Release’ party
Anniversary bash closes door on a year filled with recovery efforts
In the days following Hurricane Sandy, local restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach was left with four out of her five venues closed due to storm damage.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Schlossbach [shown above, during post-Sandy reconstruction] will host a “Sandy Release Party” in the Langosta Lounge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to honor the many supporters of her post-Sandy recovery efforts. Patrons and friends who were were instrumental in supporting her businesses’ recovery are invited to attend. Victims of Hurricane Sandy are also invited to come together and bid farewell to a year that, for so many, was filled with devastation and destruction, according to Shannon Furey, Schlossbach’s public relations representative.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will enjoy live music, complimentary fare and libations. Contributors to Schlossbach’s Go Fund Me campaign and nonprofit organization Waves for Water will be honored at the event. A special screening of “A Storm to Remember” in the Asbury Park Yacht Club, adjacent to Langosta Lounge, will round out the evening, Furey said.
Schlossbach owns a string of businesses within Asbury Park’s Second Avenue Pavilion on the boardwalk. They are Langosta Lounge [which features the Oshin sushi room], the new Asbury Park Yacht Club bar, Lightly Salted Surf Mercado store, Libby’s Beach Shack, a casual seafood fast-food restaurant, and Pop’s Garage, an authentic Mexican restaurant with an American restaurant feel. She also owns the Dauphin Grill restaurant located in the Berkeley Hotel. Dauphin suffered the least amount of damage and reopened in the days following the storm.
Earlier this month, the re-opening of Pop’s Garage completed the rebuilding efforts undertaken after the pavilion suffered a hard hit from Hurricane Sandy.
