Ocean Avenue from Fourth to Sixth avenues has been blocked off as members of the national media get set to cover Governor Chris Christie’s election night speech at Asbury Park’s Convention Hall.

News vans line the parking spaces along the south end of the hall. Local, county and state police vehicles occupy the spaces north of the structure adjacent to the north pavilion.

Businesses within Convention Hall and the Fifth Avenue Pavilion area have been closed for the day, however, Tim McLoone’s Asbury Grill and the Wonderbar will be open this evening.

Beach access has also been closed from the Fourth Avenue entrance to the Eighth Avenue entrance.

The event is open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Registration closes at 9 p.m. and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register for the event here.  Admission begins at 7 p.m. Members of the public must enter through gate C, located at the southwest corner of convention hall, near the entrance to the Paramount Theater.

Tickets are non-transferable, must match the photo ID provided. Coats, outside food and beverages, signage, noisemakers, umbrellas and cameras are not permitted.

Parking for the event is available in the municipal lots located at Second Avenue and near the Carousel structure on Asbury Avenue, as well as in any open street spaces associated with the city pay stations.
