‘Lights on the Lake’ postponed
Fundraising event may be rescheduled for some time in April
A fundraising event to benefit the Kula Cafe and Interfaith Neighbors set for Friday has been postponed, according to a release from event organizers.
“Lights on the Lake,” has been delayed due to low water levels of Wesley Lake and the possibility of inclement weather, according to a statement from APVibe, the marketing group in charge of the event.
The event has been postponed to a much later date, possibly to some time in April.
For the event, lanterns that were purchased at stores within the city were slated to be cast out into Wesley Lake. All of the proceeds of the purchases benefit nonprofit organization Interfaith Neighbors and the Kula Cafe, a restaurant and hospitality training program run by the nonprofit agency.
Below is the full statement from APVibe:
We regret to announce that the Lights on the Lake event will be postponed due to unforeseen drainage of Wesley Lake and a forecast for rain on Friday. We were aware that the water level might be an issue and took every step possibly to ensure that it would not be lowered prior to the event. The event is very weather sensitive and after much discussion we decided that it was too risky to move forward under these conditions.
We will most likely be postponing the event to a much later date- possibly April. Please help us get the word out. We will follow up with event details in the next couple weeks.
Anyone who may have already purchased a lantern can bring it to the event in April.
