On agenda: Presentation to hire city parking consultant, public hearing on liquor store sales hours amendment
The city council is scheduled to meet tomorrow night in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting include:
• A presentation on hiring a parking consultant.
• An application to extend the liquor license of Stella Marina and Cubacan to an adjoining unit within the First Avenue pavilion.
• A discussion to extend Anthony Nuccio’s appointment as acting City Manager.
• A request to display a wagon used to deliver Asbury Park Press newspapers inside the city’s Transportation Center by Asbury Park Historical Society President Don Stine.
• Presentations by City Engineer Joe Cunha on the status of the south boardwalk construction and a resolution seeking authorization from the city to request proposals for the design of the Sunset Avenue footbridge.
• Special applications for the Light of Day Foundation and Asbury Park Historical Society to conduct raffles.
• Annual notice of Asbury Park City Council meetings to be held next year.
• Renewal of an animal control contract with the Humane Society for their services to be provided to the city in 2014.
• Entrance of the November election results to change the city’s form of government into city records.
• Introduction on an ordinance to renew a five-year tax exemption program.
• A public hearing is scheduled to take place at the end of the regular session meeting on a proposed ordinance amendment that would change the hours of operation for package stores. The council may take action after the hearing.
In executive session, the council will discuss several personnel issues, including the city manager’s position, annual appointments for professional services and the creation of a recreation committee. They will also discuss contract negotiations for a state mandated sprinkler system to be installed in Convention Hall, renewal of the city’s agreement with the New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund, acquisition of the Magyar Bank site at 700 Bangs Avenue to construct a parking garage, the sale of an old firehouse at 1506 Park Ave., and agreements for the Springwood Avenue redevelopment project.
