Two Meridian Health offices will merge, move downtown
Steinbach store fronts will shift to make room
Two businesses within the Steinbach Building store fronts along downtown Bangs Avenue will have to change their locations to accommodate for two Meridian Health partner companies that will move into the location in the spring.
Meridian Obstetrics and Gynecology is currently located at 607 Eighth Ave [on the triangular block bound by Deal Lake Drive, Eighth Avenue and Emory Street] and Meridian Pediatrics Associates is located at 1611 Grand Ave. [between Seventh and Eighth Avenues]. The doctors’ offices will move out of their respective locations on the north end and head downtown to occupy about 3,000 sq. feet of space, according to Tom Wilson, executive property manager for Sackman Enterprises, Inc. in New Jersey.
All Eyes on You optical boutique will shift over one space to the old Chakra location and the Sackman offices, currently adjacent to Cafe Volan, will relocate to a office space in the old Asbury Park Press building to make room for the new pediatrics and OBGYN offices, according to Morgan Sackman, a spokesperson for Sackman Enterprises.
“This adds a dynamic to the community and to the downtown so that it isn’t just restaurants but a multi-faceted area,” said Wilson. “It’s also additional pedestrian traffic for all of the stores.”
The city’s Central Business District redevelopment plan prevents offices from occupying spaces on the first floor of downtown Cookman Avenue store fronts. Bangs Avenue is one block north of Cookman Avenue.
Wilson expects Meridian to be in the space by April 1.
New Jersey-based nonprofit Meridian Health is comprised of Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in Neptune, Ocean Medical Center in Brick, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin and Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, according to their website.
