Asbury Park Police received a report of two shots fired in the 1400 block of Bangs Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, police confirmed.

The 1400 block of Bangs Avenue is situated between DeWitt and Borden avenues.

An investigation confirmed the gunshots, according to police Chief Mark Kinmon. There also “appears to be” blood at the scene but no victims have been identified, he confirmed. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident at this time, he said.

Nearby Barack H. Obama school, formerly the Bangs Avenue school, was closed at the time, he said. The building has not operated as an elementary school since 2011 but the district still holds offices in the building.

It is the second confirmed report of shots fired to take place this week.
