A Monmouth County Grand Jury handed up an indictment on Feb. 14 charging Asbury Park resident Jorge Sanchez-Aparicio with several counts of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents.

Sanchez-Aparicio, 33, of the 1100 block of Asbury Avenue, was indicted on four counts each of first-degree aggravated sexual assault against someone under the age of 13, three counts each of first degree aggravated sexual assault against someone under the age of 16, and seven counts each of endangering the welfare of a child.

The charges stem from several incidents of sexual assault on a minor, referred to as A.D. in the eight page indictment, that occurred from Feb. 8 through March 14, 2013 and from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, 2013.

He was not related to the minor, according to Charles Webster, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sanchez-Aparicio is being held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $2.2 million bail, according to jail records. He is also being held on an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] detainer.

If convicted, Sanchez-Aparicio faces a maximum 20 years in New Jersey state prison for each first-degree aggravated sexual assault charge he is found guilty of as well as lifetime registration under Megan’s Law as a sex offender. If convicted of endangering the welfare of a child, Sanchez-Aparicio faces a maximum of 10 years for each charge he is found guilty of.
