MURC to host HUD certified homebuyer workshop
Asbury Park and Neptune residents invited to attend
Neptune-based Midtown Urban Renaissance Corporation [MURC] will sponsor a free Housing and Urban Development certified first-time Homebuyer Education Workshop Sat., April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Robert E. West Community Room, according to a release from the organization.
Asbury Park and Neptune residents who are interested in the purchase of a home are invited to attend.
At the workshop, representatives from local nonprofit organization Interfaith Neighbors, Schoolhouse Square and the Affordable Housing Alliance will discuss their affordable housing projects, according to Diana Harris, president of MURC.
In addition, a mortgage representative will be present to discuss financing and assistance programs, and MURC hopes to have a housing counselor present, Harris said.
Representatives from Tinton Falls- based company Money Management International will facilitate the workshop.
The event is sponsored in part by MURC, the Neptune Housing Authority Residents Council, Inc., and the Housing Committee of the Asbury Park Community Action Network [AP CAN].
Some lenders who use HUD funds require clients to take a class that covers HUD requirements; this workshop covers all of those requirements, Harris said. A HUD Certificate will be awarded at the completion of the six-hour workshop.
Lunch will also be provided.
Preregistration is required and space is limited. The deadline for registration is Fri., April 11.
