Recent shooting death ruled a homicide
Jermaine Huntley, 28, was gunned down on Washington Avenue Thursday
The fatal shooting that took place Thursday morning in the city has been ruled a homide, police say.
“The autopsy revealed this is a homicide and we are investigating it as such,” said Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Marc Lemieux.
Asbury Park Police received a call at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, April 10, reporting someone had been shot in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue. After the victim, later identified as 28-year-old city man Jermaine Huntley, was shot, he was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center by an independent party and pronounced dead at 10:28 a.m. The incident is the first fatal shooting to take place in the city this year.
No other details about the death have are being released at this time, Lemieux said.
Huntley lived in a residence on the same block.
