After call of shots fired, wounded man checks in at hospital
Police investigating possible link between incidents
Police are investigating a Sunday night incident of shots fired in Asbury Park that may be connected with a man who later checked himself into a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
A call of shots fired on the first block of DeWitt Avenue was received at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Webster did not have any information on the approximate number of shots that were fired or other injuries sustained, he said.
A 17-year-old male presented himself at a local hospital with a non-fatal gunshot wound after the incident was reported, he said. Webster did not have further details about the location of the man’s injury.
Police are actively investigating if the two incidents are tied, Webster said.
No arrests have been made.
