Ocean man charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer
An Asbury Park teen was allegedly caught in an attempt to sell stolen property with an Ocean Township man at a GameStop in the township, according to a news release from Ocean Township police.
Authorities responded to a call alerting them to a disturbance at the GameStop store located on Rt. 66 in the township at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Joseph Yves, 19, Asbury Park, and Clifford Fenelus, 24, Ocean, in an attempt to sell items that were believed to be proceeds from a burglary in Asbury Park.
Sergeants Patrick Martin and Brendan Bruther and officers Ryan Krug, Ryan Vaccaro and Casey Larrison attempted to place the two under arrest as Fenelus began resisting and fighting with the officers. In the struggle, Fenelus allegedly assaulted Martin causing a minor injury to one of his fingers.
Fenelus was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer. His bail was set by Judge Louis Garippo at $10,000.00 with no option to post ten percent and was taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await a future court hearing.
Joseph was charged with receiving stolen property and released on a compliant summons to await a future court hearing.
