Business owners and residents throughout the city are getting ready for Sunday’s LGBTI Pride celebration.

The event, now in its 22nd year, features a parade, rally and street festival on Sunday, June 1. Homeowners and store owners are adorning their property with rainbow flags in support of Pride Weekend, the largest of which as of Friday morning can be seen in the pool area of the Empress Hotel — visible from the corner of Asbury Avenue and Kingsley Street [shown at right].

The parade steps off from City Hall on Main Street at noon on Sunday, June 1. Festival grounds will be set up at Fifth and Ocean avenues. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy performances from Grammy award-winning superstar Thelma Houston, singer-songwriter duo Hannah & Maggie, violinist Josh Zuckerman, and Baltimore-based artist SONiA of Disappear Fear. Also taking the festival stage are Jean Navarr, Virgar, Trance, Lexi Tellings  and more.

There will be more than 100 vendors at the festival, as well as an AIDS memorial quilt, boardwalk games, a family zone and a food court.
