Pure rebrands, expands to boardwalk location
Will offer same products and services as downtown location
Juice Beach, formerly Pure Health Bar, has rebranded and is in the midst of construction on a second location on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
Cathy Gallo, 51, [shown above, at right] has owned and operated the store at 701 Cookman Ave. for just under 3 years. Now, 3 generations of women in her family will work with her to expand the business. Her 29-year-old daughter, Genevieve Pahos [at left], will take over the downtown location so Gallo can run the boardwalk location inside the Fifth Avenue pavilion, and her 82-year-old mother will assist them. A fourth generation participant, Gallo’s 6-year-old granddaughter, may also be spotted at either location.
Gallo is a certified holistic health educator and lifestyle coach. She decided to break away from the Pure franchise because it does not offer as broad of a range of organic or gluten free products as she would like to.
“We are very, very excited,” Gallo said. “We’re going to offer the same products and services as the downtown location.”
Juice Beach carries affordable freshly squeezed organic juices, smoothies, breakfast options, paninis, wraps and salads. It also offers an array of different juice cleanses.
The boardwalk location will open around 8 a.m. to accommodate early morning runners, bikers and walkers that seek healthy options during their morning workouts. On days Asbury Park hosts special events like triathlons, marathons, or other races, she will open even earlier, she said. Many of the races start or finish in near the new boardwalk location.
Grab-and-go options will also be available at the new location, so people on-the-go have quick access to “healthy, fast food,” she said.
Gallo, a New York native, moved to Asbury Park three years ago and has been a permanent resident ever since.
“I never thought I would move to New Jersey,” she said. “I came to Asbury Park, fell madly in love and never left.”
Gallo’s knowledge of and passion for healthy foods was spurred by her own life experience as a patient at the Hippocrates Health Institute, a holistic health center located in Florida.
“A lot of people get sick and conventional doctors don’t know how to heal them,” she said. “I healed myself through nutrition and juicing, and got my certificate.”
She now gains enjoyment in watching her clients transform their lives through better nutrition.
“You can have all the money in the world, but your health is most important,” she said. “Whatever you are putting into your body, make sure that it fuels you and gives you good energy.”
Gallo hopes to have the boardwalk location at 1200 Ocean Ave., situated between Tim McLoone’s and the Brielle Cyclery, open by the end of the month, she said.
