Application filed to take over Ivan & Andy’s liquor license
New group includes partner in Edgar's Pub in Sea Girt and Asbury Lanes
An application has been filed with the city clerk’s office to transfer a liquor license from the closed Ivan & Andy’s Prime restaurant on Cookman Avenue into new ownership.
The license purchaser is Cookman Restaurant Group, LLC., and the application is for use at its current location at 508 Cookman Ave. The liquor license transfer application lists Robert Fahey, New Providence, CT, resident William Dibble and Joseph Miele of Glen Rock as partners in the corporation.
The new owners are keeping quiet on the concept of the new restaurant space for now.
“We are looking to bring a new, energetic, creative dining and entertainment venue to the ever-expanding Asbury Park scene,” said Fahey.
Fahey and his brother Chris are partners in Edgar’s Pub in Sea Girt and Asbury Lanes on Fourth Avenue.
The group is working with a local designer to develop a new interior design scheme and are shooting to be open by Oct. 1, if not sooner, but are in no rush to open since Asbury Park is no longer just a summer tourist destination but more of a “year-round” town, Fahey said.
The application is subject to review by the police, who check the financial sources for liquor license purchases in the city and the criminal history of the purchasers. Liquor license transfers must also be approved by the City Council.
Fahey declined to name the purchase price.
The group will be leasing the space from Asbury Realty Group, a separate real estate management company that shares some owners with Cookman Restaurant Group. The realty group will purchase the ground floor and condo space from former Ivan & Andy’s co-owner Ivan Geldzaher. Geldaher closed the steak house in early December.
