Ridge Avenue resident Daniel H.Moore, 46, was charged with two counts of animal cruelty Tuesday after police said he did not provide necessary care for his two Italian mastiffs.

Moore failed to supply the mastiffs, one male and one female, with sufficient water when outside temperatures reached 90 degrees, said Victor “Buddy” Amato,  chief of police for the Monmouth County SPCA.

In addition, the animals have “a number of untreated medical conditions,” he said.

The animals were evaluated on scene by Deann Bowen from the SPCA medical staff, Amato said.

Both dogs are being evaluated and cared for by MCSPCA veterinarians, said Amato.

Moore received an additional charge of interfering with a law enforcement officer.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for July 18.

The case is being handled by Lt.Veronica Ehrnspeck and Det. Sgt. William Hyer.
