Gurrera, 37, was found unconscious in his Asbury Park apartment Aug. 19 and was later pronounced dead. A cause of death has not been established yet, according to the county medical examiner’s office.
He is remembered as a constant supporter of the local Asbury Park community.
“He was the biggest supporter of causes and gave up his time and that of his staff to host an endless number of fundraisers at Georgies,” according to a post on the AwwMama Facebook page.
“I can’t tell you how many benefits Georgies hosted because of Charlie,” Asbury Park Fire Department Spokesperson Garrett Giberson, who knew Gurrera before he became manager of Georgies, previously told the Sun. “He was just all about doing good things for the gay community in Asbury Park.”
