The Asbury Park Police Department swore in two new officers and promoted one in a ceremony held Oct. 31 in council chambers.

Officer Kamil Warraich was promoted to Sergeant. Warraich has served in the department since 2007, according to Officer Mike Casey, who is the department’s communication officer.

Officers Keith Ludwig and Michael McDonaugh are the newly sworn-in officers.

McDonaugh worked as a Class II Special Officer in the city for six years before he left to work at the state corrections facility, Casey said. He then spent a year working for the Camden Police Department before re-joining the Asbury Park police department full time. He maintained residency in Asbury Park since his first job with the department, Casey said.

Ludwig does not have any prior law enforcement experience and has been an Asbury Park resident for a handful of years, Casey said.

The additions of McDonaugh and Ludwig bring the total number on the force to 84, Casey said.

The Honorable Daniel J. DiBenedetto presided over the ceremony.
