Asbury resident stabbed by man who previously robbed him
Victim recognized man and attempted to confront him
An Asbury Park resident was stabbed on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Main Street by a man he told police robbed him the night before outside of his home on Sewall Avenue.
The victim, a 45-year-old male who did not call police after he was robbed of his wallet around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening, allegedly recognized the man who robbed him on Main Street and confronted him, according to Mike Casey, the department’s public information officer.
He was stabbed once in the back during the confrontation, Casey said.
The injury is not life threatening, he said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, Casey said.
The accused is a six-foot-tall male who was last seen wearing a checkered sweatshirt and a red hat, he said.
Casey did not know whether the victim knew the subject who stabbed him prior to Wednesday evening.
