Vote to amend downtown redev. plan for craft distillery on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A presentation from City Planning and Redevelopment Director Donald Sammet on an amendment to the Central Business District Redevelopment Plan that would allow a craft distillery to operate downtown. During the regular session, city council members may vote on an ordinance to approve the change.
• An application to permanently extend the liquor license at Asbury Lanes into the adjoining outside property an additional 30 feet.
• A presentation from waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial on an easement for a fence to be constructed on city property at the South Grand townhomes site. In the regular session, city council members may vote on an ordinance to approve the easement.
• A discussion of several special event applications including the 51st Polar Bear Races and the annual Asbury Park Fishing Club Flea Market.
• Several resolutions will be voted on, they include:
– Authorization of long term tax exemption agreements in connection with the South Grand townhome development.
– Award of contract to T&M Associates for professional services for new boardwalk lighting.
– Re-authorization of membership in the North Jersey Wastewater Cooperative Pricing System.
– Approval of the November 2014 payroll.
– Authorization to transfer appropriations in the fiscal year 2014.
– Award of contract for telephone and internet services to Monmouth Telecom.
— Authorization to apply for 2014 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant funds.
– Authorization of the Central Business District’s acceptance into the state Department of Community Affairs’ Main Street New Jersey Associate Program.
In executive session, the council will discuss contract negotiations with South Grand Urban Renewal, LLC., for a long-term tax exemption for the South Grand townhomes. They will also discuss several matters of litigation, including two workman’s compensation matters and two civil suits.
