Special delivery! Langosta owners to give holiday trees
Donations meant to help ease families' holiday financial burdens
In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, Asbury Park oceanfront restaurant and bar Langosta today announced plans to donate 34 Christmas trees to families in need this holiday season.
The trees, complete with ornaments, holiday lights and tree toppers, will be delivered to select families on Tuesday, Dec. 9 by Langosta Lounge owner Marilyn Schlossbach, her husband Scott Szegeski and members of their restaurant staff.
Families affiliated with nonprofit organizations Interfaith Neighbors and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, as well as from the general Asbury Park community, will be recipients of the donated trees.
Schlossbach hopes the donations help ease the financial stress felt by so many during the holiday season, she said.
“A few years ago, my husband Scott and I helped deliver 20 Christmas trees to families affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club. The joy it brought to the families was overwhelming, and a beautiful experience for all involved. This year, I want to share that holiday spirit with others in Asbury Park,” said Schlossbach.
In addition to the tree donations, Schlossbach partners with Pat Sherman of Trinity Church yearly to host holiday community dinners at the boardwalk restaurant each Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. The event is now in its eighth year.
To further support Christmas tree donations, organizers seeks donations of tree toppers, holiday lights, ornaments and tree stands. Anyone interested in donating can drop off the aforementioned items to the oceanfront restaurant during normal business hours.
Langosta Lounge is located at 1000 Ocean Ave., in the Third Avenue Pavilion of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. For more information, call 732-455-3275.
