Ocean police nab three car burglars
Area resident spotted males trying to open random car doors
Three individuals were arrested after a Wanamassa resident allegedly saw them testing the locks on car doors in the area and called police.
On Thursday, Dec. 18 at 9:43 pm, officers from the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to the area of Wardell Place after a resident observed three subjects trying to open random car doors, according to a news release from township police.
When officers arrived, they located two adults males and one juvenile male in the area. An investigation revealed the three subjects were attempting to burglarize vehicles on Wardell Place, the release stated. All three were placed under arrest and taken into custody.
The two adult males were identified as John P. Bradley, Jr., 18, Neptune, and Kahlil T. Platts, 19, Long Branch. Both were charged criminal attempted burglary and released on complaint summonses to appear at a future court hearing.
The 16-year-old juvenile was released into the custody of his mother. Juvenile charges will be forwarded to the Monmouth County Family Division Court for disposition.
Police are asking residents throughout the township to take extra care to ensure vehicles are locked and parked in lighted areas at night whenever possible. In addition, remove cash and portable electronic devices such as iPods, cell phones and GPS units from the vehicle when parking and leaving the vehicle. Do not leave anything of value that can easily be seen from outside the vehicle.

If you suspect your vehicle has been entered, notify police prior to going through it or driving it.
