19-year-old dies after he was stabbed on Ridge Avenue

Name being withheld until next of kin is notified

A 19-year-old male died of stab wounds he suffered in an incident in the 400 block of Ridge Avenue Monday night, Acting Police Chief Anthony Salerno has confirmed.

The male victim died shortly after being transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Salerno said.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he said.

Asbury Park police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating.

The Sun was referred to the prosecutor’s office for further details about the incident and is awaiting a call back.
