Sunset Ave. bridge information meetings rescheduled
Both will now be held on Thursday in Asbury Park and Ocean Township
Two public information meetings about the planned replacement of County Bridge O-10 on Sunset Avenue over Deal Lake located between Asbury Park and Ocean Township that were scheduled for Tuesday have been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, Jan. 29, according to a county news release.
The first meeting will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 29 at Asbury Park City Hall Council Chambers, One Municipal Plaza.
A second public information meeting will also be held on Jan. 29 in Ocean Township from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ocean Township Public Meeting Room at 399 Monmouth Rd.
There will be a brief project status presentation at each meeting; Asbury Park at 3:30 pm. and Ocean Township at 7:30 p.m.
It is anticipated that the bridge will be closed and a detour in place on or about Jan. 28, 2015 until May 27, 2016.
The new bridge will be a four-span bridge compared to the current five spans and remain one lane in each direction. Shoulders and sidewalks on the bridge will be widened and the new bridge will be realigned with the road. The triangular curb between Bridge Avenue and Sunset Avenue will also be removed.
These meetings are being held to update the public on the detour and schedule of the project. The public is invited to attend the open house format meetings and ask questions regarding the project, which will fully replace the bridge that connects Northwest Asbury Park and Wanamassa.
People who are unable to attend the meeting can visit the county website at www.visitmonmouth.com to learn more about the project, according to Freeholder Thomas Arnone.
Transportation agencies involved in the project include the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
